My name is Marieke Samuels (1965) and I live and work in Etten-Leur (The Netherlands). I am a professional artist. I am an autodidact, who had lessons from well known artists, like Sjoerd v/d Boom, Peter Jochems, Rainier Boidin, Shefqet Emini and Hans Innemee.I grew up in an artistic family and could draw before I could walk and talk. Still it took a long time for me to make the decision to make art my profession.
I teach portrait drawing to adults and I make paintings of faces of women. I use acrylic paint and sometimes also pastels, pencil and paper on the canvas. My work varies from small to very large paintings. I use a combination of realism and abstraction, which gives a unique style. My work has a lot of color, but still it's serene. These combinations makes my work very interesting.
I'll hope you enjoy. Let me know if there is anything you want to share.
